THORN SONG altered course outside the pacesetter on the first turn, pressed the pace for six furlongs, made his move on the turn, took charge in upper stretch then was fully extended to hold on in the final strides. CODEWORD (IRE) bumped at the start, raced up close while three wide, launched a rally on the turn then closed steadily to best the others. MISTER WHITE SOCKS bumped at the start, raced just off the pace for a half, was in traffic on the turn, split rivals at the three-sixteenths pole, then rallied belatedly between horses. KETTLE HILL was outrun for six furlongs, saved ground on the turn, angled five wide in upper stretch then closed late from outside. GIANT CHIEFTAN raced in midpack, saved ground on the turn, checked in traffic while lacking room along the inside in upper stretch and failed to threaten thereafter. PERRYCARDITUS failed to mount a serious rally. GUILLAUME TELL (IRE) bumped at the start, set the pace along the rail into upper stretch and tired. CHIEF RUNNING BEAR checked in traffic leaving the first turn, was bumped along the backstretch, raced between horses while four wide to the turn and lacked a late response. JOHANNESBURG STAR raced within striking distance while four wide for six furlongs and tired. LEAR HEIGHTS checked on the first turn, faded after going six furlongs. KRIS ANGEL hit the side of the gate at the start, and failed to threaten thereafter. PICK SIX exchanged bumps while racing wide along the backstretch and gave way on the turn. |
