THORN SONG broke awkwardly, took the lead on the first turn, set the pace under pressure into upper stretch, dug in when threatened in midstretch and held off the runner-up under steady left hand urging while drifting a bit in the late stages. PRINCE RAHY steadied sharply between horses on the first turn, checked and altered course to the outside midway down the backstretch, closed the gap four wide in upper stretch then gained steadily but couldn't overtake the winner. TRUE CAUSE was outrun while saving ground, angled three wide entering the stretch and rallied belatedly. DANCING FOREVER was reserved for a half while four wide, lodged a mild outside move nearing the quarter pole and flattened out. UNBELIEVER checked at the start, steadied while rank entering the backstretch, raced five wide to the turn, made a run from outside in upper stretch but couldn't sustain his bid. NIAGARA CAUSEWAY broke in the air at the start, angled out on the first turn, pressed the pace for seven furlongs and gave way. MAROON stumbled at the start, steadied along the inside on the first turn, saved ground to the turn, angled out in upper stretch and drifted out through the final eighth. FUND BROKER raced up close between horses and gave way on the turn. |
