| Race Summary |
|---|
KIP DEVILLE, briefly in front after the start, was eased back nearing the first turn to race under light restraint, continued within easy striking distance, moved three wide leaving the second turn, took over about the three-sixteenths pole and continued under strong handling. EINSTEIN (BRZ), always well placed and near the inside between horses, eased out six wide for the drive and was fully extended to earn the place. THORN SONG maneuvered in early to vie for the lead four wide, gained the advantage, edged clear on the backstretch, battled forwardly into the upper stretch and couldn't sustain the needed momentum. COSMONAUT, never far back and between horses five wide, exchanged bumps with OUT OF CONTROL (BRZ) about the five-sixteenths pole, angled nine wide for the drive and managed a mild gain. OUT OF CONTROL (BRZ), reluctant to load into the gate, was in contention always and off the inside, leaned in exchanging bumps with COSMONAUT at the five-sixteenths pole, moved eight wide into the lane to make a run but flattened out at the end. SHAKIS (IRE), reserved to the far turn and five wide, circled horses to be ten or twelve wide for the stretch run and improved position. PARADING, sluggish to start, raced four wide to the far turn, edged in, had a clear path along the inside for the drive but flattened out. RUFF AND READY raced forwardly between horses for six furlongs and couldn't continue. ZANN, outrun to the lane, swung well off the inside for the drive but failed to respond. WAR MONGER, well placed early and five or six wide, made a bold run to gain near even terms for the lead at the quarter-mile ground but faltered in the drive. |
